We all know the adage "The grass is always greener on the other side." The cover seems to be an almost literal translation in that the lady on the front is looking out the window at 'the other side.' I always like black and white photos, so the cover automatically draws me to it.

Plot

This book is a collection of stories of situations that happen in every day life somewhere. It is a collection of stories that will make you think about situations other than your own. Cause you to think about what the other side really is ... Is it better to be married or have lovers? Is it better to put up a wall or be friendly? Is it better to keep doing the same-ole same-ole or to rejuvenate something old into something new?

Main Characters

The characters in Finan's stories could be based on your neighbor, your co-worker or even you! They are that realistic. I felt like I could look to anyone I knew and find someone that fit Finan's characters.

Overall

I liked all of the short stories in this book. I think a testament to the author's talent is a collection of short stories that, individually, read as a complete story, but that each one could also be made into a full length novel. The Other Side is a collection of such stories.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about life situations that make you wonder ... What if ... ???… (mehr)
