Short and to the point, seems pretty sensible and has lots of examples. Will probably read again when I'm ready to put it into action...

Pretty militant, thought-provoking but ultimately impractical.

I potty-trained my daughter in one week using this book, just as the book promised. I'm not saying it would work for everyone, but it did for us! I loved Gina Ford when Bella was little. There's something very comforting about a good schedule. It makes parenthood seem deceptively clear cut.

Like the other reviewers have said, quite a maddening book. Some nuggets there but a lot that just makes you feel guilty for not getting it right. Never mind, my son never did anything to a timetable and he's perfectly happy and healthy.

"A word of warning. Do not be tempted to purchase the microwave version of these sterilizers... It becomes a complete nuisance when you have to keep removing it to use the microwave for cooking." Well, if you find a small inconvenience like that a nuisance, then you'll surely be completely freaked out by the nuisance of following instructions like "10.45 a.m. Express 60 ml (2 oz) from the second breast". For a new parent, it's hard to know which parts of this method are actually practical, and rules like "never pick the baby up when he is crying" seem like guilt-trips waiting to happen. A writer in "Green Parent" magazine comments: "I find it helpful to read Gina Ford and then do the opposite"! MB 4-vii-2007

While much hated, this is not a bad method. The secret is not to stick to the uber-strict instructions, but use it as a general guide and work with what is going to be reasonable for you and your baby. When you are a first time parent who needs *something* to structure those first months by, you could do worse than this. As any parent eventually learns, these books are meant to be about ideas for working with, not strict 'how-to' manuals. Unless you want to go mad, of course.½

Tagged 'argh' because I almost can't believe I have kept hold of this copy. It drove me mad. I like to find *one* good thing in any book and the tip about blackout blinds did prove invaluable, but most of the rest made me want to throw it at the wall. Or better still at Gina Ford's head. I am not a fan.
