Jophiel’s Secret takes the story of an angelic escort who falls to Earth and becomes a cherished son. As a stand-alone novel, this book is part of a larger series, A Lifeline Fantasy series. I loved interacting with Pipiera, Matthew, Megalos and Kasartha, and the others in this book.

Continuing the story of the world introduced in The Gatekeeper’s Descendants, I believe you can read this book along, but I recommend reading the books in order to allow you to really get to know the characters. Without reading the first book, I believe you may find yourself confused by this story.

So if you enjoy fantasy fiction, you should check out this book for yourself.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

The story takes us on a journey as we follow Jophiel or as he is now known Joppha He has come to earth and becomes someone many seek to find. I don’t think he realizes what he has done when he decides to escape and venture out on his own. There is suspicion that perhaps someone who showed up yesterday could be behind Jophiel’s disappearance but Matthew is still upset that he had him, then poof he was gone.

Pipiera is here on a mission but others are trying to stop her. She must be clever and be cautious that she doesn’t give anything away. No one knows that Joppha is very special to Pipiera. She is reminded that she was sent here to inspire. I was intrigued how she would find her friend and not cause any chaos. The place she left behind to complete this mission is counting on her.

The author has created two places where one is good and the other is evil. There is a battle raging to protect those who want to go where peace is. I loved the descriptions of the beings who were kinda creepy to me. It is easy to see that the author has illustrated a place where peace is and loved ones are waiting for us. Is it possible that those that have gone before us are watching over us? It is a question I think about and the author uses this topic to enhance her story with a bit of fantasy and a hint of faith.

Kasartha is exactly what you think of when you think of devious and heartless. Killing his son at the age of thirteen made me sick to read. All Kasartha has ever known was violence and darkness. He is someone who messes with your mind and breaks you down slowly. Who does that sound like? We also are introduced to Uncle. It is hard to imagine that anyone would follow Uncle but Kasartha is there to obey him. This sent chills down my arms as I realized that evil was now present and the story takes a direction that frightened me.

If you like fantasy stories that are adventurous, filled with imagination, dragons and a lesson on “being thankful for what blessings we have been given,” this this book is for you. The story reminds us that family is important and to not let a day go by that you don’t tell those who are important to you how much you love them.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Imagine having a curse on your life, and then getting a chance to change the past. This fantasy novel will keep you interested. The author creates an excellent plot and characters that kept me interested. It illustrates the battle between good and evil.

While the book has religious overtones, I believe it could be read and enjoyed by everyone. So if you enjoy fantasy novels, check out this book for yourself.

There is much to find in this fantasy story that will have a lasting impact for many readers. I like that the author focuses on a teen boy and shows us the emotions he goes through. I will say there are a few times that the language was a little off putting. It wasn’t really bad words just on the edgy side for me. I don’t think I will be able to describe what Matt sees as he travels through space but I can say that the lessons learned are for each of us at some point. Trust becomes a big issue in the story as Matt is asked to do something that seems far fetched but could give him his life back. Really I think it was a matter of seeing what you have and being thankful for it.

What is important to note is how Matt, like most of us hold our grief inside. The death of his father has changed him but he has never really let his feelings show. The author does an excellent job of giving readers a moment to take in Matt’s grief and perhaps help us heal as well. I don’t know if you can ever get over losing someone, but there are moments when you need to allow yourself to show your feelings by crying or talking to someone.

The story follows several characters who interact with each other in ways that explain how important family, trust and acceptance is. Those that like fantasy books will enjoy this story with a good faith element and a look at a fight for good to win over darkness.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
