John Freeman is Professor Emeritus and Research Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Rice University, Houston, Texas. Storms in Space von John W. Freeman
A brief, but excellent overview of how the Sun effects the Earth. Solar storms are a serious problem. Monitoring and alerting is a serious responsibility. The major storm could take down a majority of our technological-based infrastructure. Freeman gives a good introduction with a good read list.
