What to expect from this book:

Not a collection of production visuals (although there are quite a few within the pages). The majority of this massive tome is made up of the artist's personal sketchbooks and doodlings, and for the trade off in terms of slick design illustrations what you get in return is a glimpse inside the mind of Tim Burton.

I think most people will agree that this is an unprecedented opportunity. What value you put on this in terms of putting your hard earned cash down is quite another matter. Art appreciation should not be the exclusive right of the rich, and since I imagine a lot of those interested in viewing this book are likely to be young art students, I doubt many could fork out the £70-£130.00 price tag. I was quite happy to pay £50 for my own copy - cloth bound, with acetate window cover and many panoramic fold outs; but rather than release a more affordable softbound copy (perhaps minus the fold-outs), they have produced an even more deluxe cased & signed edition at £900.00 - which seems to me, without devaluing this beautiful book, an awful lot of money to pay.

An exciting, detailed behind-the scenes account of the film version of Ransom Rigg's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Tim Burton. Beautiful photos and artwork help the reader ''enter'' the universe Riggs has created and witness how Burton transformed it for the big screen. The section concerning each Peculiar child and the thoughts behind each one's creation and transformation was vastly entertaining.
