Lots of interesting facts in this book. Even if I didn't know some of these people from around the world, I was still interested in reading their biographies. Each biography includes their achievements, their background, and some trivia. I liked the length of each biography.

I was really hoping this book might encourage me to take up calligraphy, unfortunately it didn't. Poorly edited it was not an enjoyable read.

Thank you to LibraryThing for providing the opportunity to read this clever book by Marcelo Gameiro. As an editor of a small internal magazine, this book has been a brilliant resource. I was looking for a resource to refresh my grammar skills and find examples to use when requesting changes, this book has already come in handy. I recommend it for anyone looking for a grammar resource to improve their own knowledge.

Merci !

I was given a free copy of this book by the author, Marcelo Gameiro via LibraryThing. I teach reading to adult ELL students, and I am always looking for recourses for me and the students. This book is outstanding! It is very thorough. Each section has instructions, examples and exercises. This would be great for ELL (English Language Learner) as well as native English speakers wanting to improve their grammar.

I had a hard time with this one.

Firstly, I took a long time to get the edition of the book that I was supposed to get. I never got it, never got it, never got it, then got the audio files. I let the author know I don't really do audiobooks / files and didn't feel like I could do it justice if I were to do that. Then, I finally got the eBook.

The book was informative for sure - but I do wish there were some photos with it. Even like an outline of the country and or the flag.

I know it was nonfiction and informative - it totally was! I'm always excited to read and learn about places but this was just off for me.

**After reaching out to everyone, I finally received this "book". It was in audiobook format, which I have no problem with normally, but each country had two audio files, and neither of the files were linked, or able to be "read" seamlessly. It was hard to stay in the book in the format that was sent. The audio files include interesting facts, but the computerized vocal choices were poor. The tone are robotic, not at all interesting, and often mess up the pronunciation of words, easy common words, but also the names of festivals, which really should be better.

Also, the files only included countries up to the nation of Greece, which is ambitious, but 67 is a small fraction of the (however you measure it) countries on the planet. I am hoping to get more, but I am not optimistic. At the time the monthly giveaway only 50 files were modified, based on the file documentation.

Another issue, and this one I really have no understanding of: one "fact" that each country listed was country music. A not, not like the Country or Nation's music. Like country music. After a few countries I went and looked up some of the artists listed, and they were literally Americana/Twanggy not sure how else to explain this, but country music. It just seems very weird to make that your barometer to measure a country against others.

It all just seems very weird, and I really do wish the author luck in their monumental undertaking of a anthology of the global nations, I do hope it comes in to a print version, when it's done, I think that would solve a lot of problems, but there are others. It's just wasn't a great choice to be given to readers.

*Was due to receive the book on April's Early Reviewers batch, and never did. Reached out to the publisher, the author, and even bothered LT's amazing staff to try and get it. So far nothing has some of it, and it looks like all the other people not got it either. Such a shame. I was super stoked about this book, and they never delivered.½

Received as Early Reviewer. I love the way it walks you through how each letter is developed. Definitely something to work on during the holidays when I am on break.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book as part of an early review program. This book is a straightforward introduction to calligraphy. It covers a basic broad overview of materials, techniques, and styles of calligraphy. It reads somewhat like a textbook for an introductory calligraphy class might, but its descriptions are clear and easy to follow. Overall, I would recommend to someone looking to pick up calligraphy as a hobby.

If you read the title and description of the book from the author, you'll get just that, a very in depth ebook on GIS from its very beginning to recent times. The book goes into very intense detail about the development of GIS and applications for it. If your interest is to learn about something you might have an interest in but not sure what it all is, this book would be a great start.

There is a certain dichotomy in this book. First of all, you would imagine it would teach you how to do calligraphy. It does, but not really until about the middle of the "book". Up to that point seems to offer a lot of zen qualities of calligraphy, the history of calligraphy, how wonderful you'll feel doing calligraphy. The best information in the book seems to be the links to other websites that offer tutorials on how to do calligraphy. I state "book" since it is extremely brief, which seems contradictory. Each "page" has about two paragraphs, like it is getting stretched out to look like it might almost be a book. It's more of a pamphlet. I had a difficult time reading through since much of it seemed to be something that was translated from speech, and poorly edited. A real editor would have changed the difficult to follow sentences with their meandering text. I'm sure there's a better way to learn calligraphy.

3 1/2 star review. This is a very informative book. However, the structuring might be better read with the "#3 Benefits" moved to the end of the book. It takes a while to sort through them in the beginning and may distract the reader's interest. Also more visuals would benefit being shown as they were introduced. The wording is sometimes stilted or better words could have been used. The width of the reading columns could be expanded for ease of reading.
