Francis M. Gibbons (1921–2016)

I've read several by Gibbons, and I never love them. He's just not a good writer. He gives waaaaaaaaaaaay too much detail and doesn't seem capable of leaving a single thing out. I don't need to know everything that happened every year of the subject's life. How about organizing by theme, or by relationship, or something other than chronology? But there is no other biography of George Albert Smith published, and my dad owned this one, so I picked it up to see what he had been reading.

Other than that, some interesting stuff in here. Reading all these books that belonged to by dad makes me feel closer to him and yet makes me miss him more at the same time. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not. 3 stars for this one.… (mehr)
