Nice paperback reproduction from 1904 of an edition of the New England Primer from between 1780 and 1790. Compare to an original, possibly from Philadelphia in 1797, where certain of the rhymes for letters have been changed to reflect the post-Revolutionary world. The verse for the letter K, for example, reads "Kings should be good, no men of blood" in the earlier edition, while the later edition reads "The British king lost states thirteen."
