Extremely readable, Going the Distance is a romantic fantasy, that is very alluring to fall into; the reassuring thought that a match maker can promise a couple eternity together, once testing them through well-organized challenges. The writer takes the reader in confidence through the story line and basically it can't be stopped reading. However, there are a few things that could make the book much much better: First, it's somewhat predictable, even if enjoyable. Second, though there sure are several conflicts, they are not very strong ones when it's clear that everyone around wants this to work. Third, the style could be improved if there was more showing actions instead of telling thoughts, and fourth, the character of Jeanie the match maker could be much more developed in a way that would the book even more interesting. Having said that, I do hope there will be sequels dealing with those points because the idea and storyline were well taken care of, and all in all it was a very nice read.… (mehr)
