My post-"Lincoln" desire to know more about Thaddeus Stevens led me to order [The Unknown Architects of Civil Rights] based on it being the most current book listed about Stevens and that it included U. S. Grant and Charles Sumner among the trio of "architects" referred to in the title. I'll admit I was disappointed by its very limited size when it arrived and, although it was an interesting overview of the civil rights discussion in the reconstruction era, it certainly didn't quench my desire to read a real biography of Stevens.
