I love this book! It's part biography, part life lesson in how to work hard at something that brings you joy, how to practise with discipline and strive to improve. A delightful inspiration for any amateur musician, especially a choir or solo singer. I have shared it with several friends and fellow musicians. I especially like Goldsmith's wisdom about making mistakes, about courage and persistence, about what makes a great conductor (leadership) and about what makes a great choir ("followership"). Finding the range in which it's most comfortable to sing, she discovers, is linked to finding one's home in other areas of life and work.
