The subtitle for Herb Gordon's "Essential Skiing" is "A Bible for All Skiers." He should have warned us that it is really addressed to all people who have thought about trying skiing, but who haven't spent much time on the slopes. It is a book for rank beginners.

Moreover, the author commits the unforgivable sin of rating eastern resorts disproportionally high compared to their far superior western counterparts, and doesn't list a single Utah destination among his top 13.
