Rezensionen

A common sense read and written from the perspective of a Western Buddhist psychiatrist, which together make a wonderful reference for people wanting to reintegrate themselves into a Buddhist mindset when modern society winds them with chronic stress. For its intended audience this book could easily rank four stars if not five.

Specifically, the values I extracted are appreciation for how efficiently it was written, and I learned I can refer to kindness by five types: weak kindness (being soft), stupid kindness (the kind that I come across too often where a kind action has negative effects because the person didn't reason), manipulative kindness, sentimental kindness, and true kindness (the balanced combination of wisdom and kindness).

I could rate this the GR's "okay" two stars from my experience because other than what I stated above most of the book was (as someone living an introspective, low-key lifestyle long before studying Buddhism) too common sense. However, the book deserves more credit because I do recommend it for what the book is intended for. Therefore my rating is a compromise.
