It was an amazing experience to read about the 27 yr brutal war against terrorism written by a great soldier who continued to be in the war front throughout this long period. The flow of events are just as any Sri Lankan would remember from those days but there are so many astonishing facts that we who could only depend on the media reports never knew. A war dragged for decades with thousands of valuable lives from both sides getting lost, mainly due to selfish, negligent attitudes of the top few in both army and Govt. who acted to gain political benefits from the world, mostly disregarding the country and the young lives at the brutal war front. The book reveals the unimaginable hardships faced, and the gallantry of young men from rural poor, who fought selflessly for the country. The past governments let the horrors of terrorism on people to just drag on and on over the years, under the guise of useless peace-talks by submitting to the continued international pressures, until a regime change came in 2005. Gaining a political leadership that was completely dedicated to ending the war and freeing all citizens from decades of horror, which placed needs of the people at the forefront disregarding the strong international influences, the dedicated soldiers finally got the encouragement and self-respect they needed to go forward and kill the terrorist leader and end the terrorism in the country.… (mehr)
