Wasn't sure my boys would go for the mermaid book, but they were engaged in the story of the summer solstice and we really had fun once the feast was served. My little one loved following the gold mermaid from page to page and my oldest was engaged in the tiny details added on each page.
What a beautiful story and what gorgeous illustrations. A great bedtime story for a 2 to 5 year old.

It is the night of the mermaids’ summer solstice party. One by one they gather near the shore. They decorate the area with beautiful shells, coral, and pearls. They prepare for the start of summer. When the tide rises high and the forest draws close the mermaids begin their dance. They spin, twirl and dive in the water, celebrating the joy of the season. Soon their revels draw the attention of the forest animals and they watch the mermaids cavorting. When the dawn arrives there is no sign of the mermaids left near the shore.
