This short biography clearly shows the great creative talent shown by Stevie (and her fellow members of Fleetwood Mac, especially Lindsey Buckingham), very often stimulated by emotional conflict and the jealousies and recriminations arising from their shifting personal relationships and creative differences. I love Stevie and she speaks to me in a way very few other artists can, but I can't say this is a particularly well written book; it is sometimes guilty of the common sin of rock hagiography and there are too many long interview quotes recorded verbatim with ums and ahs, etc., which are sometimes hard to read.… (mehr)

Although not explicitly stated, this would seem to be an authorized biography, but honest in its depiction of Ms. Nicks. Being familiar with the lyrics of most of Stevie Nicks catalog, I found the descriptions of the lyrics, why she wrote them and her explanation of what they are about most enlightening. The background material whilst mostly biographical seems complete and forthright. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and gained a deeper of understanding of an artist, whose many trials both public and private, portrayed her as an honest, kind, ambitious, well-respected person.… (mehr)
