This review has been crossposted from my blog at The Cosy Dragon . Please head there for more in-depth reviews by me, which appear on a timely schedule.

There was action and romance right from the word go in this novel. I loved it. The climax at the end was really great too. Yay! The only point against it, which wasn't really a bad point, was that I didn't realise it was part of a series, and I was wanting some sort of conclusion that wasn't coming!

Kat was endearing to me as a character, I enjoyed hearing about things from her perspective. Sometimes she didn't seem all too bright, and I didn't follow what she was thinking, but the rest of the time it was fine. And surely some of that was from when she was in shock.

The romance sort of thing was really good. Kat wasn't really sure who she was being attracted to the most, and why, and then the betrayal she feels is just great. Well, not great for her, but great for my reading experience.

I loved the cover. I'm pretty sure Kat never wore a dress like that, but she'd be going for one if she did. She does look pretty amazing, if a little old (presuming that is her on the front cover).

I finished this novel and was filled with great things to say about it, and then I promptly didn't get time to write them all down for a couple of days, so this review is a bit skimpy by my usual standards. It was super enjoyable though, and I would recommend it for sure.

I'd recommend this novel to teenagers who are just moving into the paranormal and fantasy genres, as well as those who already enjoy it. Yay! Five stars from me, and I can't wait to get my hands on the other books in the series.

Background: Kat can see things that others cannot, but she has spooked her parents so she pretends not to see them anymore. One night a mysterious boy moves in next door without any parents, and to top things off, these spirits that she sees are getting stronger for some reason.

Review: I was very surprised by this book, I was expecting a paranormal YA read, which the quirkiness of some teenage romance and drama. What I was not expecting was the chills it sent down my spine. There were a few occasions reading at night that I could not get images our of my head, spooky spirits, dreams Kat experiences, sexy neighbor and his creepy house. It was a nice difference to normal YA paranormal reads though. It gave the book an edge.

I really liked the spooky, creepy elements and they brought more to the character development, even though I did feel like Kat is kind of dumb sometimes, but as teens we are were/ are...

I think what I enjoyed was the questioning through the plot, not the kind were the author just completely leaves you hanging at the end, but the kind that is built up through the plot without the reader realizing, some are answered and built up, others were waiting to be addressed fully later.

I think that Molly Hall wrote a spectacular YA. There are elements for everyone, suspense, action, some good looking guys, some romance, and some of that star-crossed lovers/ companions feel.

Very much enjoyed.
