Told in alternating chapters. Hayley is the straight A perfect student who had a mental breakdown in the driveway of the school and blocked all the cars one morning so they had to call the police to get her out of her car. Now she wears the "fragile" or "looney" student label and her teachers have forced her to give up one of her extension classes and take Media production instead. Lewis is the overweight technology geek who loves Media and directs the school announcements that are broadcast into the hallways every morning by the student production crew. But this year, things are about to change for both our protagonists - Lewis takes up running and decides he's finally going to get up the nerve to ask his best "friend" Rebecca out on a romantic date. Hayley has decided that if she has to do something like Media, she's going to do it the best possible way she can.
