Almost 3.0. Not good enough to read others½

Same as her other. A couple of eyebrow raising moments, but other than that, a hot, short read.

I do so love Kaily's quickies. She's my go-to for hot, well written romance. Loved the hero and the heroine, their interactions and dialogue, and the sex scenes. I only wish we'd have gotten to see Rex show her his dirty mouth. *ahem*

Light on the plot, heavy on the sex. But, damn, it was some good sex.

3.5 stars

Well, this was a pleasant surprise. I'm not new to Kaily Hart's work, and in fact, having read her other pieces had me requesting this one from netgalley. However, her other work has been contemporary, so I was interested to see where she went with paranormal.

From the beginning, I was sucked in and intrigued. The characters she created were interesting and she teased us just enough with each of the guys to make me want more, more, more, in upcoming books in this series.

As for Seth and Devon, I enjoyed both of them. I loved Devon's strength and her selflessness. And I was a sucker for Seth's attitude and possessiveness (in a good way, believe me).

The only thing that didn't really work for me was the length of this book. Don't get me wrong, I love novellas. But with this one, there was so much world building that needed to be done (and, unfortunately, wasn't) that I was confused and felt sort of left in the dust. I wished Hart has expanded on many things, had explained more, rather than just giving us a tiny taste into this new series.

Regardless, I will definitely be picking up the next one (and the one after that and the one after that). At least until we get to Christian. Because...hnnnnggggggg.

This was a quickie read (only 38 pages) but a lot was packed into it along with an actual storyline. Their 10th year reunion caused Rex and Lanie to relive their youth and realize how much time they wasted - neither ever knowing how the other felt. There was lots of steamy sex and you could feel the power each held over the other. I would have liked the storyline to continue at least a few more chapters but Hart might not have wanted to spoil how we each imagined the story might end. There seemed like there would be a happily ever after but I personally would have liked for the author to spin the tale. I will definitely give other books by Hart a try and hope that some of them are longer. I have not read her books before nor am I usually a fan of erotic romance but would continue to read it if this is the caliber of work authors like Hart turn out - reeling us in and helping us to connect with the characters while actually telling a story.

Favorite Quote: "Rex, please. What's taking you so long?"
His hand tightened on her hip. "It's called foreplay," he growled against her. "You should try it some time."
