This predictable book is about a young boy that loves car racing. He is so excited to go to school one morning and tell all his friends about how much he loves car racing! When he arrives at school, he tells his friends in excitement but as he is telling his story, a young new student is watching near by. The new student walks up to him and makes fun of his love for car racing. As he continues the bully keeps finding ways to make fun of him: the way he wears a race car shirt, his love for the sport, and calls him names. After a couple of days of this, he goes home and tells his parents about the bully. Him and his parents come up with a 3-step ani-bullying technique to help him overcome the bully at school. With this it helps him overcome the fear of the bully and eventually becomes great friends with the kid. This book was easy to interpret, bullying is never okay. The illustrations were very cartoon like. They were neat and clean, used with bright colors and popped out while reading the book. The characters were neatly drawn and the text was neat and easy to read. A teacher can use this book in class as a fun book for reading time or even in a situation where a student was being bullied.… (mehr)

In this story, a young boy named Matt begins to get picked on by a new student, one whom is much older than Matt. Matt loves race cars and expresses his love from them throughout the story. Eddie, the new kid, picks on Matt because he is new and wants to be cool. Matt tells his parents about Eddie, so he and his parents come up with a plan to get Eddie to stop bullying Matt.
This book breaks down how and why students are bullied, what to do it you are bullied and to forgive the person. Many students, in one shape or another, have either been bullied or bullied someone themselves. Race against bullying is a great book to teach lessons on bullying because not matter what the circumstances, each student can relate. The book also breaks down each step to take it you are being bullied, this is great because the book teaches the lesson within itself, the teacher just needs to expand on the lesson the book teachers.
Teachers can use LEA lessons with this book by having students read the book and explain a time in their own words when they too have been bullied, or maybe were the bully themselves. Then as students read when that have read in their own words, they will reflect and see the position Matt and Eddie were in and learn about the wrongs of bullying and what to do it they are ever in that situation. Students will enjoy hearing their own story because it will be in their own words, making it easier for students to understand what they have read aloud.
Overall, this book does a get job showing how bullying is wrong, and what to do if it happens to you. The illustrations are very colorful and catch readers attentions., making them feel like they are apart of the story.

This book is about a little boy, Matt, who loves to race. When he gets to school though another boy starts to bully him about being a racer. Matt doesn't want to go to school anymore and when his parents find out what is going on they walk him through three steps to stop the bullying. Matt does these steps and him and the new kid become friends. I think that this would be a good book to read to a class. Many students are bullied and it's a way to help show them that they have teachers and parents for support and that having a logical way to work things is best. This book would be a predictable book. I love illustrations in this book because they are big and catch your eye yet you can tell the characters resemble the real life people this book is based off of.… (mehr)
