The only sequel Crichton ever wrote, and very worth reading. Starts off a bit slow, but quickly turns exciting and is a page-turner! On equal to "Jurassic Park".

This book talks about the effects of climate change from all perspectives. Unlike some books where there is one argument as to why climate change is happening, this book gives valid reasonings. This book is useful in the classroom because it gives students a non-biased perspective on an important issue at a young age.

All the dogs run around making wishes for Christmas, and since it's a children's book, they all come true. Yawn.

Clifford and his neighborhood friends hear a howl coming from their apartment building and assume it must be a neighbor. They learn a pedestrian lesson about jumping to conclusions.

For me, the most interesting thing about this book is learning that it is adapted from an episode written by Suzanne Collins. Yes, Suzanne Collins of The Hunger Games! Before launching a cultural phenomenon, she was the head writer of the Clifford's Puppy Days animated series on PBS, and this is one of only three episodes for which she received a full script credit.

FOR REFERENCE

Adapted by Gail Herman with illustrations by Barry Goldberg from the television script "The Monster in 3-B" by Suzanne Collins for the Clifford's Puppy Days PBS Kids animated series, Season 1, Episode 2, September 1, 2003.

I would never have picked these books out for myself, but I enjoyed them thoroughly. Riveting stories, excelleny characters, and the coolest animals.

As a warning, parts are quite violent and graphic.

This is a much more interesting adventure story than the first one, which gets bogged down in so much scientific explanation.

Playground equipment keeps disappearing from the park so Clifford and his pals employ detective techniques like stakeouts, tailing, and eavesdropping to figure out what's happening.

It's a fairly innocuous children's mystery, but my edition at least (the second printing) has an unfortunate coloring error that whitewashes a Black character, Mrs. Young, from the TV episode from which this is adapted. This adaptation also seems to unnecessarily tweak some other details from the show for no good reason but is mostly faithful.

FOR REFERENCE:

Adapted by Gail Herman from the television script "The Doggy Detectives" [a/k/a "The Doggie Detectives"] by Larry Swerdlove for the Clifford the Big Red Dog PBS Kids animated series, Season 2, Episode 10, May 16, 2002. (Available to stream on Amazon as Season 5, Episode 10.)

It's Halloween, and Emily Elizabeth's snotty friend Jetta and her arrogant dog Mac get a comeuppance when they belittle other people's (and dogs') fears. A thin two-minute reader adaptation of a thin ten-minute animated segment.

FOR REFERENCE:

Adapted by Gail Herman from the television script "Boo!" by Lois Becker and Mark Stratton for the Clifford the Big Red Dog PBS Kids animated series, Season 1, Episode 11, September 18, 2000.

Very well done, and a good audio book too. It's a very intense book, and I appreciated the forward that recommends kids turn to adults for discussion and support after reading it.

This is an excellent introduction for young readers to a topic many adults are uncomfortable with even when talking among themselves. Herman is able to present a good overview of the Holocaust without minimalizing it for elementary age children.
This book includes photos but none that should be unsettling to her audience.
I have been impressed with this series for young readers (and for adults who do not read English well) from the first book I read (George Washington) and highly recommend it. I would give this seven stars if it was possible.

I didn't like this one as much as the first, but I am glad that I read it.

Okay, this book is adorable! I’m going to be running the library at a small, private school this year, and I’m so glad I found this little treasure. I’m planning to read it to the preschoolers and the K/1st class.

The puppy follows the boy’s bus to school, and experiences school from a dog’s point of view—lots of feet and knees. This book captures the devotion we all long for in a pet.
