The end is nearing, WE know whats coming..... but what of the hope and horror of what the royal kids had about the future ?

Its a horror story that happened and Pride of Eagles goes in-depth into the Romanovs lives in this series.
The author has written many books with a sensitivity that goes beyond all 5 senses.

In volume four of the historical fiction series, the author looks at Tsarina of Russia, Alexandria’s life from 1907 to 1913. The extreme liberties taken with the dialogue come across as unrealistic and portray the Romanov family as whiny and superficial. Although the Stolypin reform is mentioned, the author missed an opportunity to use historical detail to illustrate the significance of the politics on the family that is part of establishing a believable biography. Ellipsis overuse was very distracting.

The five books in series order are:
• The Funeral Bride
• The Empress of Tears
• The Shaken Throne
• The Pride of Eagles
• No Greater Crown is due to be published March 2018.

Goodreads Giveaway randomly chose me to receive this book. Although encouraged, I was under no obligation to write a review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I admit to be biased in regard to this authors writing, i am addicted. Even tho this is not part of the russian series i adore ,she did not fail to amaze me yet again. I do advise that you read FAMILY MATTERS with an open mind ok? Most of us either recall or have read about the Manson family and the murders in 1969..... those involved. This is not a re-run, or a re-telling. Kathleen Hewtson writes with her intuition as well as her intellect. And she once again gives the reader a look at real life with HER personal ,shall i say, input.

Third book in a series that involves the last czar of Russia as seen through the eyes of the deluded Alexandra. In this one she finally, FINALLY, has done her duty and given birth to a son, and heir.
Only to be devastated to find that she has passed on the hemophiliac gene....
There are writers and there are authors.....in my opinion there is a huge difference....... Kathleen Hewtson is first-rate author. She is a master of her craft who has the innate ability to create images with words. I can not say enough....just, more please!

This is the 3rd book by this author, and the 2nd in this series that i've read, and i simply do not how she accomplishes her incredible creations called books. I'd love to have the ability to hang out in her brain just to absorb an iota of what she has stored in there....
It's as if she has the ability to shed her own skin and envelop that of her subject. Thoroughly.

Book 2 picks up where Alexandra has married her beloved Tsar 'Nicki' and takes us through the emotional roller coaster years right up till she has finally delivered the long desired heir. Four daughters were more of a nuisance, beautiful reflections of herself but not what she was looking for.... Is it possible to be narcissistic and incredibly insecure at the same time? I looked it up in the dictionary and alas, her picture was not there.. In a way i sympathize, I sure wouldn't want to be empress of anywhere. The constant fake smiles and chitchat, the critiques of what i said, wore and ate, the lack of privacy and those neck-breaking crowns would be a deal-breaker. HOWEVER...because she was not considered to be the blessed holy mother of Russia and did not have mere mortals swoon in her presence, she was miserable. There was protocol to be followed but she wanted the glory without the work.
Both she and her husband were ill-prepared to run a damn thing except perhaps a family farm? A farm of course that had a palace with a swimming pool on each floor please. He walked around looking to God and mama for guidance because he was chosen of course. SHE walks around with the feelings that she is with him and Russia because God wants her to guide her husband. I honestly do not think Nicholas was a nincompoop....i do think he was intellectually obtuse. And i think she had some serious psychological problems. Together they made beautiful doomed children and ended a dynasty.

Like many other readers of this book, i have read whatever i could get my hands on regarding the Romanov dynasty. THIS book by Hewtson is incredibly unique in its insight.
What and who helped shape Alexandra into the empress she would one day become? Her years in Hesse and the early death of her mother- one of Queen Victoria's daughters? The devotion , security, and friendship with her brother Ernie? The gossip and envy of relatives and hangers-on that affected her self-image and closed her down emotionally? The overly powerful control of her grandmother who used her children and grandchildren as puppets? Her belief that to be a royal was a divine assignation?
ALL of these things combined made a whole i believe. The focus of the book revolves around the years prior to her crowning as Empress Alexandra....the time leading up to the death of the tsar that created a hasty wedding for her and Nicholas. A funeral bride.
I could not read this book quickly enough but put on the brakes as the book was coming to a close- it was THAT good. I dreaded the end and am salivating for more from this author!

This book is ridiculous. I purchased the book because I found it in a true accounts section. To my surprise in reading the introduction is that the only part the author claims to be true are the responses to a questionnaire that Susan Atkins answered and her conversations with Atkins. To be honest I have serious doubts that even those are true.

The story line is that the author believes that Atkins and Manson are using astral projection to torment her. I understand the rest of the story is supposed to be fiction but I was still incredibly disappointed. That in part is my own fault. I purchased the book without reading the preface that would have advised me only a small portion of the book is claimed to be based on fact. Still my attraction to such stories has to do with my interest in abnormal psychology. The only real insight into abnormal psychology I have here is that if the author truly believes in the truth of this story she is in need of a professional psychologist and not just the armature interests of someone like myself.

Don't get me wrong. I've read plenty of books regarding astral travel, out of body experience, life after death, and several other new age topics. I find them interesting, insightful, and educational. This story is really none of the above. The only reason I completed the book at all was to see search for the promised truths.

I would not recommend this story for anyone with a serious mind. If you are more interested in fictional entertainment in your reading it might not be to bad.
