Based on secondary sources, but ably reconstructed & vividly written by a respected retired Danish general. Tolerably illustrated with historical maps, along with some freshly designed for the purpose (a little too few, as so often).

Of exceptional interest is material on the tactics, drill, & strategy of musket & pike warfare; on the Swedish attempt to storm Copenhagen 1659; on the policies & diplomacy of the rising European Powers (France, Britain, the Netherlands) toward the waning Nordic Powers (Denmark & Sweden).… (mehr)
