This book was so well written I honestly wanted to read more of it - which is both my compliment and complaint - I wish it were longer!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It’s 1989 and Lindsey is at a crossroads. She dreams of the starving artist life- she could live with just her pencils and art books, listening to music and letting creativity guide her. She misses her father and her home in Hawaii. Her mother however, wants to see her married or studying accounting- deadline: yesterday.
Fast forward to 2019 and Keith leads a very simple life with very little passion as he plods through a standard 9-5 life. His only joy comes from hunting deals at the flea markets.
One day he stumbles across 2 camcorder tapes- and here he meets Lindsey and her video diary.
When Keith talks to the screen something miraculous happens- Lindsey can hear him!
And so starts a love story where the only distance is 30 years.

You guys know I’m not a romance fan but I like to dabble with it occasionally and I was very intrigued with this plot. I love magic realism in stories and this has very strong “The Lake House” vibes which I loved.
At 200 pages this was a very fast read and I really wish we had more - there was a lot of room to go deeper with the characters and their backstories, which were both complex but were only lightly touched on.
Hill has amazing penmanship I would gladly read his work anytime!

A massive thank you to @thewritereads for sending the copy my way #partner ⠀ ⠀

A Different Time shows me that there is always light in the dark.

Keith Nolan and Lindsey Hale are both interesting and lovely characters. They both had no plans for their future. So, when time interconnected the two of them, they found themselves engaged on talking with one another using the home video Lindsey had recorded in 1989. But, with every happy day, there will always be a sad day. Keith needs to find more of those home videos if he wants to keep on talking with Lindsey.

This is the second time that I encountered a plot like this. The previous one that I had seen, which is something like this was from a Filipino movie wherein they are also both from the past and future. *If you are interested in watching it, the title of the film is Moments of Love* They are similar in the aspect of having two people connected from a different timeline, but the execution is really different in this book, and I liked it. The story is only short, so reading this won’t take much of your time. But, during that time, you’ll get immersed in the story and the journey that the characters will have.

This book gives me a dreamy vibe where you will hope something magical like this would happen to you. But despite it, I am not as surprised as to what will happen in the story because I already watched a movie with a similar concept but only with different execution. The writing lacked something which I keep on looking for, but I don’t know what it is. Is it the writing style? Is it the story itself? The characters’ development? The scenes? But, no matter what it is, the story is still good.

Also. I associate myself with Lindsey when it comes to guys because we have the same preferences or an ideal guy. I want to meet someone who likes to read and maybe, someone who can understand me as a person.

Overall, A Different Time shows that love has no boundaries even if it is the time that separates the two lovers. I am recommending this to everyone who likes to read a classic and timeless romantic story of two star-crossed lovers from a different timeline.

Book source ~ Tour

It’s 2017 and 22-year-old Keith Nolan is just living his life, working a job he dislikes to pay the bills and haunting flea markets and stores trying to fill out the last of his Uncanny X-Men comic collection as a tribute to his dad. On the day he finds that final edition he needs he also picks up a home video from one of his regular vendors. In the excitement of finding the comic book he forgets about the tape for a bit. When he does remember it and gets it playing, something strange happens. The woman on the 1989 tape is 19-year-ol Lindsay Hale and when Keith plays her tape, they can hear and talk to each other. What?! And this strange phenomenon changes their lives forever.

Told from both Lindsay and Keith’s POV the story will pull you in from the start and keep hold until the end. I wanted to know more about Lindsay and I really wanted Keith to find the rest of her videotapes. This isn’t a typical time travel story because Keith doesn’t go back in time and Lindsay doesn’t come forward, so while it has some sci-fi to it I guess it could also be considered paranormal. In any case, I dare you to read this and not be cheering for these two to get together. Be prepared because this is one exciting and unusual romance with a surprise ending that will make some people happy and others not. I cried and that’s all I’ll say about it.
