A solid, if slightly forgettable, adaptation, highlighting and making use of many of the (to me) more memorable aspects of the original story, but usually failing to really push them and elevating them in the new medium. Cast is quite good, too, with solid child acting, even if the parents steal the show: Jason Isaacs is absolutely terrific in the dual role as the hapless father and the cruel Hook, and Olivia Williams captures Mrs. Darling's famous mysterious-yet-warm incarnation of motherhood to a degree I'd be hard pressed to expect a human being to manage.… (mehr)

I did enjoy this! It's the story of Julianne, who has been 'best friends' with Michael for nine years, and suddenly realises she's in love with him.... when she's invited to his wedding. His fiancée is bright, enthusiastic, and also very much in love with Michael, but Julianne determines to do all she can to break them up.

It's a bit surreal at times, with a table full of guests breaking into song at one point, Julianne's gay boss flying to her rescue after a frantic phone call, and even a spoof Bond-style car chase. But it was exactly what I needed for an evening's relaxation with my husband. Decidedly a 'girly' film, but he liked it too.

Julia Roberts stars, and is believable, if a little over the top at times.
