Good on the history of though on the Episcopate, from Origen and Cyprian, though Hooker, Field and up to Dix. Along the way he shows that for Anglicans bishops aren't to be seen as a third order, but an extension of the Presbyterate, for whom certain rights and responsibilities are reasonably and traditionally reserved ... but those can and should be shared when circumstances require them.

Holloway well shows some of the problem in top-down and prelatical models of episcopacy, and the recent more collegiate thinking. Where he is weakest is in actually suggesting a different way of ordering episcopacy.… (mehr)
