A fun, scary little story let down by a weak ending.
Seagull Summer really brings the fear and dread, and it does it well. But sadly, the ending is weak and inconclusive - not in a horror 'will this come back ooooh' kind of way, but in a way that suggests the author didn't know how to finish it.
Still, definitely worth reading.

Took quite awhile to get into the main plot of the book, and then it felt like it took forever to get to the end. Plus the cut-aways back to the main character's wife seemed unnecessary.
That being said, I still enjoyed it. Lots of action, mystery as to where they really were. Some great discussions of things in the real world that Christians tend not to discuss - UFOs, The Bermuda Triangle, Giants, Nephilim, spiritual warfare, etc.

I read this book on kindle! Hopkins has just gained a new fan. The characters, the suspense, the clever style of writing…I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’m always a fan of interjected humor and sarcasm in context with the story and he’s incorporated it brilliantly when describing the frustration Jack experiencing as this tale unravels to get to the meat. I didn’t want to put the book down for a moment until I found out exactly what was going on to get the main characters into the predicament that they were in, and I was NOT disappointed when the darkness came to light. I find it interesting that the main character was reading a book by Koontz because this read definitely rivals the same caliber of read. Excellent!… (mehr)
