When you read the synopsis of some story lines in this genre, it can be difficult sometimes not to roll your eyes & think....sure, that could happen. But hey, this is erotic fiction after all.
What enables you to overlook implausible plots are elements such as strong characters, tight dialogue & steamy sex. That's what raises this book above the average.
Nancy is a college student who does a favour for her friend Hannah that not only rocks her world but could end up threatening her life. She agrees to cover the opening of an art installation at a local gallery. The artist is Peter Rostovich, a mysterious man known for his provocative images & ties to the Russian mob. It doesn't really go as planned.
First, she's immediately drawn to the enigmatic man. Second, she ends up in bondage gear, trying to dodge the cops as they break up the show. Note to self: no more favours for Hannah.
But Peter is equally intrigued by her & soon their relationship becomes one of master & student as Nancy receives an education in sexuality & the world of BDSM.
You know it won't be all wine, roses & handcuffs and unfortunately, Nancy catches the eye of one of Peter's enemies. No spoilers here, just a warning this is not an HEA. It's only book #1 & there's a big cliffhanger ahead.
It's a fast paced erotic read with interesting characters & no doubt fans are anxiously waiting for book #2.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was my thought process while reading this Domino Effect:
"Hmm...did this start out as 50 Shades fanfiction? .....This is REALLY similar to 50 Shades.....HE DID WHAT!?....Awe he's a nice guy, in a way...Russian Bodyguards, yikes!....HE DID WHAT?!...THEY ARE TAKING HER WHERE?!!!...That would never happen in real life...Wait...she's okay with it?...NO WAY that would ever happen in real life...."

annnnd....CLIFFHANGER, in a major way.

The story lost me when Bluschencko came into the picture, because it lost any threads of reality it might have been clinging to. But, the ending was surprise enough to make me want to pick up the next one and see what happens next.

Thank you to NetGalley and Ellora's Cave got allowing me to read and review this book.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was hooked from the first page; I thought it was refreshing that Nancy, (imagine that, not a trendy name!) who's still a virgin at the age of 22, was sassy and snarky, naive but somehow jaded all at the same time. She reluctantly covers an opening art exhibit for her roommate Hannah (another normal, non-trendy name) and encounters the artist in question Peter (yes, a hero NOT named Sebastian!).

From the book blurb, one might think this story is nothing more than a woman being introduced into the world of BDSM. Oh no my friends, there's more to this book than what that little paragraph leads you to believe, and it makes the story that much more intense.

Now, what stopped me from giving this 5 stars was the fact that a few parts were so over the top that it detracted from the story, like how quickly Nancy seemed to embrace the BDSM; also, given where Nancy ended up, how did Peter get there so quickly, since it read like Nancy was only there for not more than two days?

Hopefully all will be answered when the next installment comes out, which I'm hoping is soon because the cliffhanger was no joke and I need to know what happens. I would definitely recommend this book!

The story is about Nancy, a college student, who fills in at an art gallery for an opening night review which her roommate Hannah was supposed to go to. (Sort of fifty shades!) Nancy meets Peter, a Ukrianian artist, and within 30 seconds of meeting him, he ziptie's her wrists together and she passes out. When she comes to he has stolen her press pass, and recorder. She gets up and tries to find someone to cut the zip tie off, and no ones seems to blink at the man's oddity. She wants to leave but at that time he is unveiling his piece de resistance... Two alive models having anal sex in a bdsm pose. He turns stalkerish and unlike starving artists he displays large wealth even though no one apparently knows much about him. While she is definitely into Peter strange things begin to happen, and this is where the Domino part comes in. The ending is short and abrupt with of course a sequel. I dislike books that can't really stand on there own. I felt a depravity in this book, and it didn't really flow well for me. Hannah got into trouble and nothing was said about what happened to her. I barely give this a three star review. Read at your own risk because there are more books to come. Not a complete book.… (mehr)
