This is the core book for the short Open University course, SA188. In spite of its archaeological/humanities subject, this book is all about the *science* behind archaeological finds, like the use of carbon-14 to date samples, electron microscopy, etc. This book is necessary for any student of modern archaeology, because technology is necessary, not least for dating artefacts, but also for identifying samples and analysing components. It is clearly explained, no fuss, the book is not very long, but concise.
