Migrations is a beautiful little coffee table book that opens up so many conversations. It arrived in my post box just as my family make a migration from the US to Germany... and as we meet people from all over the world they recognize places that they have lived, commented on the messages on the cards, and offered hope for the people making migrations in situations much less privileged than ours.

This is a book to savour.

A cursory glance will not allow for the unfolding of encouragement and reassurance or, the quiet peace of birds, hopes, and dreams on the wing. The illustrations are varied and evocative, providing fodder for contemplation and creative inspiration.
The book is a series of postcards submitted by illustrators from around the world. The design allows one to view both the front and the back of most of the cards. The messages, poems and quotes, stamps, and handwriting lend a depth to the front illustrations and a deep connection to the people who crafted those illustrations, reinforcing the message that people migrate to places of people.

Migrants is a quiet force appropriate for older children as intended but also for young adults who are creating new communities, and the older adults who anchor our communities and should never forget our collective migration story.
