This book is very useful for the "gringo" hoping to avoid common mistakes in spoken Spanish. It has a brief review of Spanish grammer & spelling, but the real value is in the extras:slang and vugar language definitions, common errors and a few good expressions. I found it quite useful when I lived in Monterrey for both understanding and getting along.
