- Maggie Kast (b. 1938) is a Chicago-based dancer, choreographer and writer. She is a co-founder of Chicago's Chicago Contemporary Dance Theater, and author of the memoir The Crack Between the Worlds (2009). She received her undergraduate education in the Great Books curriculum at Shimer College and the University of Chicago, enrolling at Shimer via early entrance and graduating from the University of Chicago in 1958. After converting to Catholicism following the tragic car crash that ended her dancing career, she enrolled at the Chicago Theological Union, graduating with a Master of Theological Studies in 1987, and later also completed an MFA at Vermont College of Fine Arts. She has taught writing at Valparaiso University and Columbia College Chicago. (from Shimer College Wiki)
