Kaufmann gives a "day in the life" telling of a sea kayak paddle launching from Crissy Field, crossing at the Golden Gate, having lunch on the water in a cove just west of Kirby Cove Beach and a return trip. He gives details of his preparations, the food that he ate, animals seen along the way, various foghorns by which he navigates across the Gate etc. Though it was written in 1978, there's much contained in this book that kayakers today can glean.
