I love most books that involve vampires, witches, werewolves, shape shifters etc so I knew I would like Vampyre Kisses before even reading it although the cover wasn't too appealing . I have a lot of Vampire books on my shelf and this cannot really be compared to any of them as I think Elizabeth Kolodziej has researched and detailed everything so well. The story flowed well with a love triangle between human, vampire and werewolf but there was also the bigger picture of Faith's issues and trying to deal with them. The book was told in the three main characters POV which I like and it was a unique story.
It was a great debut novel and hope to read more from this author.

Although I haven't had a chance to review it yet, I just finished Elizabeth Kolodziej's first book Vampyre Kisses. I fell in love with the characters in that book, and I was looking forward to diving into this one! I know these reviews are a bit backwards, but I'll do my best to make sure that I explain a little bit about the overall story and what I liked. That way you won't feel lost, my lovely readers.

Number one thing I love about this series in general is the copious amount of paranormal lore that is packed in. From vampires, to witches, to werewolves, there are more paranormal entities than it seems possible to fit into one story line. However Elizabeth does it seamlessly. Older vampire lore is mixed in with new and interesting abilities. What comes out of it is Werewolf Descent, a fabulously entertaining book that will keep you reading on.

If I had to choose one thing that put this book at 4 stars rather than 5, since I did thoroughly enjoy the read, it would be the way the chapters are broken up. Each chapter is from a different character point of view, and there were times where I would be a bit confused as to who was speaking. Especially since Trent and Faith are so used to one another, so comfortable, that sometimes they say what the other is thinking. It was definitely an interesting way to tell the story, since it was from multiple eyes. However it was definitely a confusing read as well.

The tie in of Greek Mythos made things interesting as well. I'm not entirely sure how much it spoke out in the overall story of Werewolf Descent specifically, but it was a nice undertone. The plot is fast moving, the characters are well written, and if you've read the first book you won't have a single problem picking up where you left off. I've heard people say that you can read this as a standalone. Personally I wouldn't recommend it. I started to read this first, but then quickly realized that I was missing a lot of rich back story. Spend the extra time and read both, you won't regret that you did.

All these words basically equal out to one thing. This book was a great read. I'm a fan of vampires, a fan of werewolves and, thanks to Werewolf Descent, I think I've just added witches to my list as well. If you are a lover of paranormal fantasy, this is a series to look out for. I thank Elizabeth Kolodziej for allowing me the opportunity to review her books! I can't wait for the next in the series.

“Vampyre Kisses (The Last Witch, Book 1)” by Elizabeth J. Kolodziej

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked “Vampyre Kisses” by Elizabeth J. Kolodziej. Overall, I would give it 4 STARS and recommend this book to Young Adult readers as well as Adult readers. I think the story line would satisfy both age groups. This paranormal novel has it all – vampires, werewolves, witches, gods, and goddesses. There was something in this book for almost everyone. I love paranormal books and all things supernatural so I definitely loved all the different characters in “Vampyre Kisses.”

Faith is a young woman that is just going through the motions of life. She is never genuinely happy. One day she discovers the hidden world of the supernatural and she learns her true identity. After learning whom she really is, Faith’s depression lessens. Faith has to help the vampires and werewolves get their gems that were stolen. These gems are the most valuable thing to both species because they alone hold their survival. Trent, the vampire that introduced Faith to her new life, will be right alongside Faith helping her fight. They will need to fight and hope that good prevails over evil.

I loved the characters in this novel. Faith was great and I just loved how she seemed like an average girl. I think her being an ordinary girl made it even better when she discovered she was a witch. I also really liked Trent. He was very old school and spoke very proper, but he was a tough guy at the same time and I loved it. The supporting characters complimented the main characters perfectly. I think everyone was just great throughout the whole story.

If anything in this review sounds interesting to you then you should go and add “Vampyre Kisses (The Last Witch, Book 1)” by Elizabeth J. Kolodziej to your To Be Read list. There are also more books in the series you can check out as well.

Smash Attack Reads: http://smashattackreads.blogspot.com/2011/03/review-vampyre-kisses-by-elizabeth-... October, I participated in the Blog Tour for Vampyre Kisses. I had not yet read the book but I’m happy to help promote new authors. The book definitely sparked my interest due to the Irish lore and well, Irish vampires, of course! Also, Salt Whip is a kick ass term for a witch killer. If Elizabeth came up with that one on her own, kudos! The characters are likeable in the story. Faith is so easy going and sweet. She stood up for others and did not want anyone getting hurt or killed over her. A compassionate, loving soul who took her new identity seriously. Morgan was a great character. One of the oldest vampires in the story, she is quite lethal, yet she was very motherly and protective of Faith. She was also the prophet for the ancient vampire god, Kane. Mega cool. Akilah was an interesting character and my favorite. He was charged with teaching new witches their craft. I loved his personality and how he didn’t put up with shit and pushed Faith. He reminded me of Pei Mei from Kill Bill. :) *snicker*One of the smaller but equally important characters, Oran, stole my heart. I won’t describe him because I would hate to ruin his awesomeness for you. I definitely loved that Elizabeth wrote him into the story as often as she did. I adored him. He is full of WIN.There are some things I did not particularly like about the book, however. The books switches POVs, which I have no problem with. However, one scene is seen through Faith’s eyes, and then we again see it through Trent’s eyes. This happened only once, in the beginning, and it felt odd. I was glad it wasn’t that way throughout. Sadly, I did not feel the connection between Faith and Trent. It all happened to quickly for me, and while this has occurred in other books, their romance just didn’t seem real. I enjoyed them together, but the whole “I love you” bit was odd and unnatural to me. I was also sad that Ireland didn’t come into play until the story is about 75% finished, and it is where the big showdown occurs, so not much of Ireland is seen or spoken about. *sniff* Sequel, maybe…?All in all, I enjoyed the story and the characters. The camaraderie amongst the characters was nice. The mixture of vampires, weres and witches was done well, and I enjoyed the adventure and struggles Faith and team experienced… (mehr)
