Ronald M. LeHew (1945–2006)

Ronald Madill LeHew was an American artist and book illustrator. Born and raised in Salem, New Jersey, he was educated at the Hussian School of Art, in Philadelphia. He worked for Hallmark Cards for a time, in Kansas City, Missouri, and then as an art professor at the Hussian School. He moved back to Salem in 1973, and launched a career as a freelance children's book illustrator. LeHew volunteered for many years as a town crier for historical reenactments, and was named the Official Town Crier of Salem County in 1994. He wrote a bi-weekly column for the Today's Sunbeam newspaper, compiling many of his pieces into the collection, Mist over the Meadows: The Columns of Ron Lehew, Volume One, 1989-1991, which was published in 2006. He died that same year.
