A great choice for young ones learning to read and tell stories. Our kiddio had us acting out the exploits of Rick and Rack for several months. Simple, innocent fun with two good friends.

A cute story about a vampire whose family unexpectedly arrives for Thanksgiving dinner and accidentally gets carried away with the festivity prep.

Pug by Ethan Long is a sweet, easy to read picture book all about a Pug who wants to see his doggy friend!

This book is an excellent tool to get young readers starting to read. There are short, simple sentences that also have a tiny rhyming scheme. This story is a great way to encourage young readers to help read along, and perhaps get them to tell their own stories with the pictures.

The illustrations are incredible and it's just a fun, simple and sweet story! Definitely a book I'll be sharing!

Three out of five stars.

Oh family. I am thankful that mine has relatively little drama. But not the case for our friend Vladimir. They kind of mess up his Thanksgiving. (Who wants to eat snail spit? Even if you are a vampire?!)

I really enjoy this book! Especially how it is all about coming together!

OMG. This book is adorable. I mean, Fred is making a valentine and all of his friends want to know why. Then Bunny (who looks like the bunny from "The Secret Life of Pets" in my opinion) shares all of the ways that giving a valentine is gross.

It made me laugh out loud (because I agree, paper hearts do look like butts) and it made me smile. Good things in a book that is for sure. Kiddos will love this one.

Cute read for that time between Halloween and Thanksgiving. The monsters are gathering for Thanksgiving dinner, each making his/her own contribution to the meal. Vladimir the vampires family drives up unexpectedly and changes everything (no garlic in mashed potatoes, the Turkey needs to be cooked differently, etc). The meal is a bust before being eaten by the dog. But Vladimir remembers this is family! So they do a do over with the family refining it in a little. The meal is different than expected but it is representative of everyone (the Turkey shaped corn dog stack makes me laugh). In the end, they are all grateful.

The pictures are cute. The color scheme is muted, like an enhanced sepia tone, giving it an old fashioned/evening vibe

This book is a great book to read to children who are learning either Spanish or English as it is a low reading level. The text includes plural words and idiomatic expressions and keeps the child entertained with the funny expressions.

Absolutely Great! This is a must have for Father's Day! Instead of a card invest in this book....send a message to the Father in your life that quality time is more important than any other thing! The pictures are brilliantly colored, the verse is easy to read and simple. The over-arching theme: Even though Dad is not a super hero he is My hero because he spends time with me.

Thank you Sourcebooks for this review copy

This book teaches us that even cute and fluffy animals can do unexpected things. Don't judge this book by it's cover.

Learn about different types of signs and enjoy the vibrant, colorful illustrations as you meet the cheerful workers of Happy County and find out what happens to those runaway porcupines.

I love this series. The ghosts, goblins and witches learn from a cute and cuddly bunny what love is. You know, kissing on the lips. But Fran knows it is much deeper and lovelier than that. This book is just … ahhhh. It's fun, it’s lovely, it’s full of laughs.

The Fright Club meets annually to practice making ghoulish faces and chilling sounds. Only the most frightening monsters are invited to join, but that’s not fair! When a sweet bunny and some cute little critters ask to join, Vladimir the Vampire won’t allow it. After all, what would these cute critters know about being scary? The monsters don’t have time to waste as they brush up on their scary skills without the bunny and his cute friends. Not to worry, the cute critters have a plan, and they won’t give up. Will Vladimir eventually give in and let them join? Read this spooky tale to find out!

The Bottom Line: This is a cute seasonal picture book with adorable illustrations in soft, muted colors, but there’s a deeper message here: Everything’s more fun when EVERYONE is included. This would be a frightfully fun choice for story time for kids in grades K - 2.

Long, E. (2018). Dance, Dance, Dance. New York: Holiday House.

This is a simple story about two friends, Horse and Buggy. Horse is dancing wildly when Buggy asks him what he is doing. Buggy points out that there is no music for dancing, but Horse claims that the music is in his mind. Horsey brags about his prodigious dance skill while trying to convince Buggy to join him in dance. Buggy makes excuses and Horse teases him, claiming that Buggy simply cannot dance. This eventually goads Buggy into trying some simple dance moves, once Horse plays some real music. By the time Buggy is enjoying the dance, Horse has collapsed on the ground, exhausted by all his own dancing. This book is suitable for children ages 3-7 years.

This would be a great book to incorporate during math period for a PK to 1st-grade class. It's about the wing brothers, and how they distinguish equation signs, their meanings, as well as understanding addition and subtraction in the purest form. The illustrations are so useful for visual learners because they explain everything the young reader needs to know. I would use this book as an additional resource during my lesson.
