This is a nice book to share with young children who are afraid of noises in the dark. When Christopher hears "Honk Shoo" in the middle of the night while staying with his grandparents, older readers might guess the source. For the youhngest though it conjures up all sorts of animals from dinosaurs to elephants. Clever art work shows shadows that look scarier than the real thing, The cat's shadow looks like a tigers's. The sounds continue. And Chistopher doesn't figure out that it is Grandpa's snoring until he crawls in bed with them. The story ends with the imaginary animals parading down the street.… (mehr)

Christopher is a little boy who is trying to go to sleep in his grandparents home. As he is lying there, he here's an odd noise and uses his imagination to think of what could be causing it. As his imagination gets bigger and bigger and leads him out of bed to investigate out down the hall and thinking of the most peculiar animals that could never be found inside of a house. Never having a scary thought or moment, Christopher's idea are fun and exciting to keep your little on curious and smiling, but yet sleepy enough to stay in their own bed for the end.
Imagine Christopher's surprise when he finds where the noise is coming from and gets to jump into bed and snuggle in with his grandparents!

The illustrations and colors of the book look soft, simple and snuggle-like; it definitely reflects the mood and feel to falling asleep. All of the characters are sweet, adorable, funny and friendly.

Christopher Sat Straight Up in Bed is sure to become a favorite and memorable bedtime story for everyone.

Christopher hears loud noises in the night. What should he do? At first he is frightened but finally goes to investigate. What he finds will surprise you.
With creative text and imaginative pictures, the author and illustrator work together to make this an interesting story.
Younger children wondering about the noises in the night will enjoy learning that they shouldn't be afraid of all those sounds and that usually there is a very ordinary explanation.

This was a cute book about a boy (is he a hedgehog? I'm not really sure) who is awoken by a strange noise and tries to find out what the noise is.
It's predictable, but my five year old enjoyed it. The illustrations are adorable.
