I am beyond excited for this anthology and can't wait to read more!! I read LA Cotton's story Reckless Nights and this is my review of Reckless Games:

Bryan and Carrie-Anne have this relationship where he loves to rile her up and all she wants to do is be left alone but not really. Carrie-Anne is a loner but not of her own making she’s just always been the second choice, the one tossed to the side “too uncool for the cool kids, but not geeky enough for the geeks.” My heart hurt for her because she wanted to be included, wanted friends, wanted to experience things but she was always on the side watching in. Bryan had it all the friends, the nice house, popularity, but it was all just substance because he couldn’t have the girl he wanted nor the family to stand by his side. Total opposites one trying to fit in the other trying to find more. These two have so much they are fighting for feelings, friends, sense of belonging but can they find each other in the end? I feel like there is so much more to hear from these two that I can’t wait to not only see the next book in this series but to hear more about them as a couple.

Ok, after long consideration, I have decided to rewrite my review.

I am still frustrated with this book, however, after some discussions with other book club members I have discovered that what bothers me about the book is the delivery.

If Michelle had simple changed words like "was" to "is", it would have changed the whole dynamic of the book, made it less confusing.

The store reads as if the narrator is telling a story of something that happened to them in the past tense.
Not a story that is currently happening in the characters lives.

So, I was, and am (as I have decided to continue reading with my idea from above) frustrated with this story.

I want to be clear. I LIKE the idea behind the story but, I am having trouble following it.

I hope this review is calmer.

See? This is why I always give an author two or three tries before I throw up my hands and walk away.
I am glad I stayed with this author.
I enjoyed this story. Cried my eyes out and the Clift hanger make me feel things for a character I wished would get hit by a bus.
On to the next book.

I liked the story. I am disappointed at the ending. I wanted to read his reaction to her news.
I found the ending of the series, too open ended.
Like falling off the edge of a cliffhanger and strangling.
However, I did enjoy the story.

So, I have officially read all six books. Plus the first one. I have to say that although I enjoyed the entire series, I'm still hung up on that first book, and I'm also hung up on the absolute disaster of a cover for dizzy's book . all the other books had a cover that represented the individual that the book was about . however I find that an extreme disservice was done to dizzy. That cover had nothing to do with him. Not even a character from the book. I could have created a better book cover for you than that . my sl character has white and black hair. I could have made you a cover with him. other than that I enjoyed the series . once I got past that first book, the one that was set in past tense, driving me nuts, I found it hilarious that the last book someone actually uses the term past tense period and I had to laugh because I wondered if someone else had mentioned the first book to the author and she had just thrown that in as a big old f you to anyone who noticed the error in the first book. It was great series. and don't get me wrong I am 100% in support of all authors. You all have amazing gump shaw. way to go.

never judge a book by its cover. that is what I've always heard All of my life and normally I do not. Normally I just move on past the cover and read the story.
However, I was extremely disappointed in the cover of this book. The reason being for the first time in a very long time, I was distracted by the cover. In all the Tempest books the author drones on about dizzy's hair. Calling it chocolate and kahlua. or cookies and creamor chocolate and cream. Dark and light. However for the first time, in a while, the cover actually distracted me. Dizzy is one of my favorite characters in the series, so the fact that he is not properly represented on his cover of his own book, is very disappointing.
I enjoyed the book itself, the story was rocking. However, I'm disappointed, and it lost one star, because he was not correctly represented. I was really looking forward to that.

I gotta be honest. I HATED the leading guy. Like, really really hated him
He was so selfish, and cavemanish and just wrong. Ya know, a wee Neanderthal is good in spouts but this dude was NASTY!
However, I suppose it's true, there is at least one person in the world that completes us and makes us want to be better.
For me it was my children, and a guy, made that possible...(to HAVE children lol), so there is someone for everyone .
I liked this story.
There were some errors but nothing to get too hung up about.
Good job doll.

ADDED NOTE

I have to wonder why the author isn't on this site yet but I strongly request it.

This novella introduces us to the children of the Empire High gang, now in high school themselves. Scarlett is a senior and coming out of her shell. She's been in love with Axel all her life and never seems to attract her attention - now her new look has caught Jacob's eye as well. I can't wait for the series to find out what happens to the Empire High second generation!

I'm not much into musician romances... but I met Michelle Mankin at the 2015 Nola Author Event. She was super fun and told me a little bit about this book, and I decided to try it. I'm glad I did. This book features a country music singer rather than rocker or pop star. I can get down with a country music singer. And although we didn't see alot of Blade in this first episode, it was enough to peak my curiosity.

This book has all the makings of a great paranormal story, and I love that its set in New Orleans using local places, customs, myths and legends. The idea of using Mardi Gras mythology for a story is unique and fun to follow.

I can't say much more than that about this story at this point, because I've only read this first part of the serial. This is why I don't care for serials - its hard to review an unfinished story - and you have to wait for the next episode to come out. As a avaricious reader, I probably read 20 books before the next episode is out, so I will have forgotten what happened in the first episode. For this reason, I am going to put this serial on hold until all of the episodes have been released. I will probably have to re-read this episode at that point, so I am looking forward to reading once the whole book is complete.

Note - this episode ends with a cliffhanger.

Unfortunately, despite how much I wanted it to, this one didn't work for me. The deep poetic instalove felt forced, as did some of the dialogue. I would have liked to see more showing and less telling, but I know that's hard to do in a 100 page serial.

I also felt like I was missing the back story, so this may be a spinoff of another series (which I have not read).

I received an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. 2.5 stars / 3 flames.

It was interesting. Reminded me of the Koreanovela He's Beautiful (which I love, by the way). I really dig the whole girl-disguised-as-a-guy thing, although if you think about it, it definitely wouldn't work in real life, right? Physical differences and everything.

But anyway, all that aside, I really enjoyed Love Evolution. I liked the chemistry between Avery and Marcus even when Avery was pretending to be a guy. I also admire her talent. I'm a sucker for talented characters. I just wished Avery's character had more substance. Sure, she lost her twin brother and was in a debt with some mobster, but somehow I couldn't sympathize with her. I connected more with Marcus. I think he's a pretty awesome character despite his mess in the past. Or maybe because of that, and the fact that he managed to pick himself up. It was also interesting that Marcus has been skeptical about female guitarists yet unknowingly lets one in the band. Oh, the irony of it. Beautiful.

I liked the pace of the story, the turn of events, the anticipation leading to the moment when Avery reveals the truth to Marcus. I also found some things quite funny, like when Avery "showed" Dwight and JR that she's a girl. Their reactions were hilarious. I liked the tension, the drama, the angst. I liked Mary and Trevor and Rheta. Fantastic characters.

I really enjoyed Love Evolution. Makes me want to read more good music-themed novels. Rock on!

Read this review and more at Books and Insomnia

A great conclusion to a great trilogy. Michelle Mankin really rocked it with Love Resolution. I couldn't put it down!

Our rocker couple, Avery and Marcus, from Love Revolution continues their story in this book. And boy, what a story it was! It was beautiful and frustrating and intense and swoony. There were the things that we loved about Avery and Marcus and more. New characters, new conflicts, new music!

What I liked the most about Avery and Marcus was that they bring out the best in each other. They were better persons when they're together. Marcus, even more. Avery brought out the tenderness in him that not many people can see. It was only frustrating that Marcus was often plagued with doubt that he wasn't good enough for Avery. Often times I just wanted to kick Marcus in the balls shin because of his stupidity and shitty decisions.

Now, Bryan. I don't know if I love or hate this guy. I think his attraction to Avery was cute. I would've even rooted for him if there was no Marcus. He's caring and sensitive and he was a friend to Avery when she needed one. Heck, he even saved her life. But yeah, the chemistry just wasn't there. So, no go. Meh.

Aside from all the sexiness and almost love triangle thing, the drama hooked me in. A lot of times Love Resolution made my heart ache. I wanted to pull my hair out when Marcus broke up with Avery. The pain felt too real. I cried with Avery while I wanted to kill Marcus.

Then there's also the family issue. It's not all love and rock and roll. Avery's past was something that molded her into the strong woman that she is now. And by confronting that past and forgiving, she found completeness.

Michelle Mankin sure knows how to write her NA. I liked the intensity. The scenes were definitely mature and sexy but they were written beautifully. I liked the atmosphere and feel of the story. The sexual tension between Avery and Brian was so palpable. And so were the pain and anger of the characters. The stress of the tour, too. (I never imagined concert tours were like that. I've always thought the stars only experience the glamour and glitz of being celebrities. This book introduced me to the ugly side of being a rock star on tour.) The family angle was also well played. I liked how things ended with Avery and her father. No one would blame her if she chose not to forgive him, but she did. And that kindness was why I love Avery Jones. (Aside from the fact that she's a rocking guitarist.)

Love Resolution is one hell of a book. Do I even need to say that I totally recommend it? Rock on!

Favorite lines:

“Unforgiveness is an insidious thing, Avery. It never ends up hurting the other person half as much as the one harboring it. It’s the poisonous pill you swallow hoping the other person will die.”

"He doesn’t deserve you. But thank God, love isn’t always about getting what you deserve. Sometimes you get better."

"It was more like a part of me died when she did. When you have that kind of love for someone…when they know everything about you, the good and the bad…and still love you…You never get over it. You go on…eventually, but not as the same person you were before. The man I was with Trisha…I had to finally let him go. I couldn’t be him anymore.”

This book had so much going on at the end so many things were about to blow up I was getting nervous. There is no hot sex in this book but it is a good love story- YA book. My definition of "lady porn" is anything that makes my Heart Swoon and this book does that! I decided to read this book because I loved the cover to the second book in the series so I had to start at the beginning. It took me awhile to actually read it only because I'm not fond of the cover- It fits the book but I hate seeing faces as I don't want preconceived images as I read a book. It's a page turner which made it a quick read.

Quotes:

"It's not the things that happen to us that make us who we are, but how we react to them, right?"

"love is a journey, not a destination."

3.25 Tentative Stars! Love Resolution was a fantastically emotional book! I was told it could be read as a standalone novel, so that's what I did. I DO NOT recommend that. I was confused and lost for some of the book. I had no clue who was what, or what everyone looked like. I had no clue until 3/4 of the book how Avery got into the band.. etc. I think I could easily raise the star count if I read the first two books then this one. Mankin is a wonderful writer, I love the duel povs, and the plot is very interesting.

The angst in this book was definitely heart stopping because the story line was so realistic. The relationships that were fixed in this book was very heartwarming. And while this book has some sex scenes, I felt that they were hot while being genre (new adult) specific. Both of the MCs are likable and their love for one another is tangible. (Though some of the book you want to kick one of them in the nether-regions!) The best part was the song lyrics that were added to the book. They were fantastic.. the only bad thing is that I can't hear anyone sing them :(

The story leaves us on a happy note and really wanting more at the same time!
