I just couldn't connect with this one.
Second chance romance.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
Ex drama, other woman.
Dystopian future, zombies.

4.2 stars

This series... Holy CRIKEY...it was ugly and brutal. Yet, even as dark as it was I could not stop reading. My heart broke for Faye and even Rhett. Not for the feint hearted.

I give this one 4 1/2 stars! This book truly took me by surprise and would not let me go until I finished it. I read this book today.... in about 7 hours. It was beautifully written and the writing flowed so smoothly that it was a breeze to read. I honestly was unsure at first that I would end up loving it like I did, but really this is a great read! Definitely for 18+ :) Here is a blurb to get you familiar with the story.....

Flesh-eating zombies, dirty sex, and a shattered past…
What’s more dangerous—the man who broke her heart or those trying to eat it?
Fighting to survive, Eve finds herself alone in the world after the Crave—the only parallel of her former life. On the hunt for her sister, she runs into Gage—the first and only boy to have her heart and break it. It’s been four years and he isn’t a boy anymore, nor is he the same person he used to be. Against her better judgment, Eve agrees to stay with him when he divulges information on a safe haven near the small town they grew up in—but that doesn’t mean she has to like it…
Returning home elicits a myriad of emotions that both Eve and Gage thought they had buried. The past and present collide and they are forced to the face bitter deceits that ruined them in the before and threaten to destroy them now…

Wow.... the synopsis above really does a good job, BUT there is so much more to this story. Eve's mom and father are religious cult like freaks who treat Eve horribly and raise her sister Olive to treat her the same. She is abused physically and mentally by her parents constantly and their "freakish" ways make her the "weirdo" who is teased and bullied at school. Then throw in that Eve is secretly in love with the hottest most popular guy in school, a.k.a. Gage, who is actually a decent person and treats her kindly, as compared to the rest of the school, but who also allows peer pressure from friends to cause him to make some bad choices that he regrets when it comes to Eve. All of this is disclosed by specific flashbacks to the past, or rather chapters that Megan labels as "the before". The before chapters explain events that happened to the characters before the Crave hit and really help to fill in the blanks when it comes to the two main characters, Eve and Gage. They meet up after The Crave by coincidence and both have grown up a lot and changed dramatically. Eve becomes a crazy warrior and Gage is... well Gage. He is a huge football player, strong and built amazingly well and talented with the bow and arrow. I will say that I LOVED Eve's character (although she could drive me crazy at times) and I loved Gage's character even more. The two together fight their feelings throughout the entire book and I had to keep reading to find the ending I wanted so badly... or that I hoped I would. And Megan did not disappoint. I loved the ending and hope to see more of Gage and Eve. Oh... and did I mention the really steamy epsiodes! Fabulous read! Very New Adult... lots of action, fabulous love story, flesh eating Zombies.... what more could you ask for! Thanks to Megan for writing this fabulous book!
