Fun and interactive, but also sort of baffling. My two-year-old didn't really get it, but I think a four-year-old might enjoy it. It asks the reader to do some things I've seen before (hold the page close to your face) and some thing that made me go huh? (make a scared heartbeat with your fingertips).

I don't think this would work for story time or group sharing, which is usually what I'm looking for. If you've got a kid who's read it all and is looking for something different, this could be a hit.

Aita berokia,
Hegaitazkina,
Aita esekitokia,
Aita zaindaria…

«A, aitarena» jolaserako gonbidapena da, elkar ezagutzeko eta orri bakoitza igarotzean maitasun-harremanak estutzeko.

Testua eta irudia ondo artikulatuak daude, eta aitei omenaldia egiten diete, eskuzabaltasunez eta samurtasunez, pertsona seguruak, alaiak eta baikorrak hezten laguntzeko.

I lile this book, but it's pretty Euro-centric; there's np spread from China or India, two of the most populous countries in the world.

Indeed, a captivating Portuguese book written by Isabel Minhós Martins and drew by Bernardo Carvalho, what good combination! The focus point for me are the drawings, because they not only added creativity and colorfulness to the book, but it helps to tell a great story. I think that little children would enjoy the most by reading this book, and it has to be read with the drawing showing, as it's an important part of the story to be told. The general it's kind of the bad guy of the book, he tells the guards no to cross the line, so the book is shown divided right in the middle, and one side is full of people of different kind, gender, age, even animals, and the other side of the line is blank as a representation of the boundaries that exist in real life Later, in the book people start wondering why can't they cross the line, and the revolution starts, but they still don't break the rule of the general. Until one moment, the limits are broken when a ball bounced to the blank pages of the book. The people is shocked, but a group of kids cross the line, and the people were calling the guards, to make them realized that they broke the rules. Other people also started to cross the line and realized nothing happens, even after the general showed up. This tale, brings a lot of memories in history, because changes can be good and bad, but definitely revolutionize the world. Younger generations can change the world for good, but sometimes we need to break the rules and manners inflicted by society.

This book was a good example of how powerful illustrations can be in literature. I thought it was very good and how it brought int o effect the idea of breaking down barriers and changing things. This is a very good book to have in a text set to explain the power of illustrations.

A really funny book for anyone who doesn't want too many words.... The page is getting really stuffed with people who want to go to the other page.... And they can't. What will happen?

Okay, I am in love with this book. It is interactive but not with flaps and pop-ups. The book asks you to make noise with your fingers on the pages. For example, on pages 3-4 there are pictures of hands made of dots with red dots as the fingertips. The text reads "Put one hand here." on page 3, on page 4 the text reads "And the other on here. Are you ready? If so, patter your fingers on the page like a drum roll: let the adventure begin!" And on the bottom of the page are red dots for your fingertips to patter and make a drumroll. I wish I had this book when my children were babies because they would have eaten it up.

With the idea that you can't start too young, I just read a little Portuguese children's picture book, Don't Cross The Line, which is a cheerful way to show children that people acting together can overcome tyranny. There's a guard with a machine gun on the first left-hand page. He stops all characters from moving on. He has orders to allow no one to occupy a right-hand page because the "general reserves the right to keep the page blank, so he can join the story whenever he feels like it." The characters don't riot or fight. They joyfully dance, float, creep and haunt as they get more and more crowded on the left-hand page asking why they can't advance and giving reasons they need to. And it turns out the guard is just as human as the rest of them. For the little political activists in your family.

I enjoyed this read because of the simplistic, primary colors used, as well as, the simple, but powerful story/ message. I enjoyed the twist at the end, where it reveals that her parents are animals too.

Taking the idea of the second as a starting point, Portuguese author Isabel Minhós Martins highlights twenty-three different occurrences that all happen at the same instant, all around the world. From an elevator getting stuck between two floors in New York City to a boat unexpectedly caught in a storm in the Baltic Sea, from a package arriving at its destination in Karabuk, Turkey to a man resting on a bench in Tokyo, there are millions of things happening at any given moment.

Originally published in Portugal as O mundo num segundo, this entertaining and educational picture-book offers a snapshot of the world as it unfolds in one single second. Referencing concepts such as time, and geographic distance and diversity, The World In a Second is the sort of book that curious children will enjoy poring over, and that will lead them to think about the disparate but interconnected nature of the world and its many residents. The bold, graphic artwork by Bernardo P. Carvalho makes the perusing of this book a distinct aesthetic pleasure, while the afterword, in which the location and exact local time of each scene in the book is listed, fills in specific additional information. Recommended to anyone looking for children's books that address the idea of multiple events unfolding at one time, worldwide, or who just want a picture-book that celebrates our diverse world.

Has the same ever-so-slightly off-kilter vibe that many non-American picture books have. Each letter stands for a word or phrase to help send the reader off to dreamland; some are sweet, some funny (P for Pee: "OK, this one is important. Did you go before you got into bed?"), some a little odd or imaginative.

Not an instant favorite but we might try again in a few months.

A book like this can help a child understand 'the world' and all the things going on, everywhere, all of the time. Big bold illustrations.

Where do we go when we dissapere is an amazing eye-opener. It made you think out side the box. the book told you that you needed 2 people to dissapere . One to stay and one to go . if you ar'nt missed you didn't dissapere. Because to dissapere you have to be missed by someone. or else your just gone

This book truly was amazing.Id read it again . It tells you where things go in interesting ways. like the sand drifts from one beach thru the ocean to another beach.that is what made me want to read farther and farther
