this book was marginally better than the previous. I'm not giving it extra stars though because it still doesn't explain much.

Okay so now we know that they're purgatory. Or better yet trying to get out of purgatory. And judging by the ending, that doesn't seem like it's going to be possible. Maybe it will be. We shall see. Next year?

This is what I don't like about reading series. The amount of time that you have to wait in between books. A year seems like an extraordinary long time.

Personally if I was going to release a series, I would time it to be maybe 2 months in between. Personally I think that is a long enough time to make our readers wait, to build anticipation, to bring the promise of an ending to our readers. And also enough time to build suspense, without losing my readers interest.

If I had known, that I had to wait for an entire year to get to the end, I wouldn't have started this series. I would have left it on my TBR list, and revisit it in a year.

The longest I will wait for a new book from an author, is 6 months. 6 months is bordering on the lose interest idea.

I would love to find out what happens at the end of this book, since I have invested all this time. But I guarantee that I'm going to lose interest between now and next july.

It's just not worth a year's time of waiting.

No offense to the author of course.

This book ventured slightly outside of the realm of young adult. I would say the purgatory, for lack of a better word, between young adult and new adult. You know that area where they're just exploring what could be? Yeah that's where this all fell in. Granted the sexual scenes were a little bit more intimate than the previous book, but there was still that annoying young adult feel to it.

And before anyone asks, the reason that I read this book, was because it showed up in a feed that I am subscribed to under erotic RH novels.

To me there's a difference between sexual and erotic. Sexual is more of a gentle pressure. Erotica is more of a bulldozer. You know, rushing in and rubbing that intense sexual, erotic, lusting, passionate, hunger. That is erotic. Erotica.

This book was a gentle tease. Maybe I'm corrupted by all of the overly sexual books that I've read in the past.

And maybe reading three completed series by Alex Lidell has ruined me for everyone else lol. But even her books weren't too bad. They're pretty kinky but they weren't, you know, over the top.

I don't know what it is exactly. it's just that I couldn't connect as well as I would have loved to with this book. Or the other.

And now the fact that I have to wait another year just to be able to see what happens next, already I'm frustrated and not interested in waiting.

Also to give you a reason why a year is too long, after a year we're going to have to reread the previous book in order to understand the next book. Even with her little update at the beginning. I just don't like having to reread something in order to understand the next.

This is my first experience with this author, and out of 10 I would have to give it a four. And that's being generous. And the reason is, I didn't connect. As soon as I was about to connect it all just blew up in smoke. And also every time I start to connect with the scene, she threw in somebody else's story as if it was more important. That was a bulldozer right there.

And again I would really love to know what story everyone else is reading that gave it higher marks. Because I don't see it. The story is there, that's why I gave it one star and the connections are possibly there, they're just not feeling connected if that makes sense. Which was another star. And I could care about the characters, but not connect to them again lol. But I gave it a star. That's my three stars. I just wish I could have connected better. Basically all the stars that I gave, were on potential connections. Not actually being connected. If they all connected, if the weave in the tail connected everybody and the story, then I would have given five stars.

So once again for anyone reading this, I strongly suggest that when they're placing this on their reading lists, if they create them, label this between, LOL pun young adult and new adult.

I am not sure if I will give this author another chance. Part of my mind says to do it. Because I've already invested this time, I should at least look at one of her completed series, and see if it gets any better. The other part of me tells me not to waste my time, because I already have an impression, and it hasn't changed much between the two books.

If you're reading my review, chances are you've read other reviews of mine, what do you think I should do? Do you, the reader of my reviews, think I should try one of her completed series?

Also, knowing that I like the RH genre, can you suggest one that may feed my fantasies better than this one did?

Again as I said this author is new to me, so I meant absolutely no offense. I only wanted to share my personal opinion. My personal experience.

Spoilers. That's your only warning.

The reason that I gave this book two stars is because one, it's my genre. I love the whole reverse harem. And I love the guys. After that we're pretty much a fail.

It would have been nicer to have a more constructive storyline to follow. There is other confusion for the entire book until you get to probably about 75% of the book completed.
And even then, unless you are a part of the story, well not a part of the story, more familiar with these types of stories, then you are going to be completely lost.

There's potential here. With a few added statements, and if you extra direction, then possibly it could be a great story. There's just things lacking. Once you start to understand a little bit of somebody's feelings, it changes and works. And I understand that's what purgatory is. A complete mind fuck. But in this story, I think we needed a little bit more substance.

I was disappointed. Maybe it's just because I just got through Reading 15 books by an amazing author, Alex was out, but I don't think that's it. I just couldn't connect to each of the characters. Once it started to connect, the author changed the story completely on its head. in other books that I've read about purgatory, they at least let you connect to the character so that way when their story unfolds you understand the faucets behind it. Would this book you cannot connect to anyone.

Also there were too many characters to follow. You had the harem. Four guys. Then you had the female character, main character. Then you had this mysterious little girl running around talking about the in between. Then you had another girl who looks like the main character. Then he has a bunch of other people. Yeah it was just too much.

I really wish that I could give this book a higher rating. And I would really love to know what book other people are reading to give it such high ratings. When I was looking through the ratings, there is a average of four stars from all the ratings. But I honestly have no idea what they were reading. It took me about 12 hours to read this book. Normally 200 300 Pages only takes me about 6 hours. Or less.

I really liked Kace... But even his character started to drive me insane. And beau... It would have been nice if she had put explanations on why he wouldn't speak to bianaca. That is another thing that pissed me off through the entire book.

I'm still going to read the rest of the series. I've already invested my time, I want to see the end. But I am not going to kiss anyone's ass, and give them stars that I don't believe they deserve. And you guys can hate me for it all you like, this is not a popularity contest, this is a review to share my personal opinions of a book. Plain and simple. This is no reflection on the author, obviously other than the fact that it's not a great review, but it doesn't mean that the author is a poor author. It just means that I think in this particular book they need improvement.

I hope you stick by me, and wait for my end review. As in the series overall but I understand if you want to curse me out, and call me a bully, etc etc. I know the truth. And if you know me at all, so do you.

I can't remember if there is any sex in this book. If there is, it's only one scene and at the end. This is the first in a trilogy(?) by this author that falls in the "Kingdom of Wolves" series.

I have noticed that the books in this series are mostly firsts in their own trilogies, so be aware that if you read a book thinking it's a standalone (unless it specifically indicates that it is) then be prepared for a cliffhanger. Also, since this is a relatively new anthology/multi-author seires, then it's expected that the individual author trilogies from this series are not out yet.

This is one of those cases, and it would be nice if I knew this ahead of time. When I read that this was a first in a three part trilogy I assumed all three books were out already. As of this review only the first book it out. I am assuming it's three books because there are three "heroes" that the heroine needs to "date" in one month increments. She basically is told that if she lives with one of the heros for a month, then he and his family (pack) will protect the heroine's pack - which is comprised of "bitten" werewolves that have been hunted down and killed for being "bitten" and not some other kind of accepted werewolf.

So not to be outdone, two other shifter wolves pledged the same protection if the heroine also dates/lives with them. SO three total different wolves all vying for the hand of this lowly shifter female who has decided to take them up on their offers because it means protection for her pack/family.

What we learn through varuious chapters written in the male POV is that each of these other werewolves believes that they are true mates with this female. THey aren't wrong either, it's just shaping up that she has multiple "true mates". This book is about the first month she has with the intitial shifter. It's mostly an enemies to lovers, where there isn't really any loving going on. Like I said, I can't remember if they actually get together before the end.

So, I guess I will just wait until the final books are released before continuing. I am bummed that this is the norm for this series.

If you like monster smut, enemies to lover , one bed trope, why choose, all with a story then you like this!

This book starts with Alisha and her group going out looking for supplies and end up fighting monsters. They live in a dystopian world where monster have taken over and you either fight them, be taken by them and turned into a slave or some humans have become “fang bangers”. Alaina is a fighter and sassy, I love her.

Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
