Danger on our doorstep von Jim Molan
Books of this nature Ie political essays, are often not easily assessed using a standard approach to literature , it is what ideas they convey that is their real merit . This book clearly states the ranges of defence risks that Australia likely faces and clearly explains what should be done; and done with urgency ! Unfortunately I feel the late Jim Moylan is akin to the old biblical prophets who are correct but ignored- much to the peril of the society that was deaf to their warnings!
This is a military and personal memoir of Major General Jim Molan an Australian general who arrived in Iraq in April 2004. Whilst there he was responsible for strategic infrastructure security and was Chief of Operations with the multi-national force. The first 3 chapters of the book detail his early career, culminating in the strategic and important role he played in East Timor. The major part of the book provides detail about and anecdotal reflection on the operational situation in Iraq in 2004/2005.… (mehr)
