Maurine Brown Neuberger

Pioneering piece of public advocacy that preceded the issuance of the famous Surgeon General's Report on Tobacco. One brick in the wall, a wall which, unbelievably, is still under construction, over 50 years later. This was actually written by Michael Pertschuk, then a junior staffer for Senator Neuberger. Like full professsors, senators hardly ever write their own books. She did, though, probably read it.
