In preparation for fatherhood I got this delightful little book from my own father at his last visit. The book contains 45 one-two page long advices for new dads. They are written in a humorous style that I enjoyed most of the time. I have to admit that the constant reference to one's kid as the future bigshot got tiring very fast for me. Why did the author have to include it in every single mini-story. Those lines felt like fillers for me. I have no other objection against the book, though. All the lessons were useful for me, even if some of them seemed obvious to me. But being a new father it was good for me to be reminded of them. The illustrations by Beegee Tolpa were simple great and catchy. The stoic, zen-like attitude of the author towards the challenges of fatherhood is something I would like to strive for. I think I will keep this book close to my bed, so I could re-read the short chapters any time I need encouragement to have patience with my kid (who was born two weeks ago.) So far I did not need it.… (mehr)
