Is A. Edward Newton still be worked on? in Legacy Libraries (Oktober 2023)

Rezensionen

Once the seat of great power and maritime influence, Genoa remains a city of impressive scale and architectural might. The narrow streets of the old city are often bewildering in their labyrinthine layout, palazzos and modest dwellings rub shoulders and the light arrows into the corridor like passageways.

Working with modest subject matter - domestic items, clothes strewn on furniture and the odd scruffy landscape - day to day (in)activities that I point the camera at. Normal things acknowledged are offered a new status as pictures, things recorded just as they are, or rather, were.

Here the book form has been stripped back to make the object as simple as possible to leave a set of unbound spreads. The 'book' has pages/cover/spine but it also becomes a set of images to hang on the wall.

An interesting collection of essays about authors, bibliophiles, and the world of books. Some of the essays seemed to drag on and became more like love letters to certain individuals, but very informative overall. There are a few humorous bits; I only wish there were more!

I recommend the amusing essay "What Is the Matter with the Bookshop" -- it's surprising how much of this still applies to bookselling.
