This was a very practical manifestation guide that didn’t make me go, Aha! So that’s what Carl Jung and the Vedas…. ~you know, but I’m very glad I read it and I’ll mention a point Lisa makes and then kinda mind-wander a bit. She says that you need a “blend” of different activities in your life, but not a work-life ‘balance’ which would imply a rigid equal division. Just to take examples from my own temperament or whatever, we don’t do well to work to avoid the rest of life, but equally, my work on any given day doesn’t have to be seen as needing to be less than, or ‘cutting into’ time for socializing, meditation, or indeed popular science or academic history reading. That, equally, can be a way of avoiding the rest of life. And just in terms of providing for oneself, getting the “good” products—good for me, good for the earth—with some notable exceptions presuppose a certain amount of monetary abundance to get a quality product priced accordingly…. And once we have a good place in the system, we can be willing, and will it to be more fair. Rules can be a little…. And ordinary things, and yet I don’t think that the people on the bottom have made many laws, as the occasional grunting and cries of anguish are at least as likely to make fake success people at the top (get afraid and) do something stupid. Or just, journalists, right. Take them: politics are not all the same, and a book per se is not without merit, but just to say you are the abstract just-bad or the good colonial leftist based on the books you read, right…. But, if the truth is not just what we say, don’t listen to me yet. Carl Jung and the Vedas types I probably do know more about, though, the club gatekeepers wouldn’t let me into the inner circle! Just as well! Make some money!….

And equally, just to scratch the surface of an ugly plant or something, whenever they play the Join a Winning Team hiring ad at work, I’m reminded of the crazy-cold-war novel where team sports were indicative of divided loyalties and commie sympathies. There’s success in the market, and there’s neurotic dreaming, and they can both be called capitalism. But now I’m really not talking about the book—common sense; a good portion of your spiritual life can be work, etc. But yes: I know that you shouldn’t have to feel two foot small because you’re the perfect combination of pretty and good at basketball (if you will).

…. After-note: Although the Believe It! girl isn’t quite alternative consciousness like this girl (from the Secret), I can’t help but be reminded of the Believe It! girl, who didn’t quite have a theory of selling as much as a story of how she had learned by doing. This girl (Secret girl) does write a normal non-fiction book with theory, but she also emphasizes learning and earning by doing, and not always by super-human theorizing, you know.

Lisa Nichols is far from perfect, but in many wonderful people's eyes whose lives she's changed from worse for the better with the power of her positive words and with the power of her positive actions, she's really one of a kind, a truly inspirational human being, and that's just one of the many reasons why I decided to learn more about her through this wonderful book, for she made quite an impression on me through her guest appearance on Steve Harvey Show and through her guest appearance on Impact Theory, in fact, she moved me to tears. That's why I knew that I needed to learn more about her, about her story, about her personal success story, about how she managed to raise herself from poverty to riches. And as luck would have it-I did learn more. I learned so many things surrounding her life that she's mentioned in this book, I learned of her past, about her present, about her hopes for the future, I learned of her world-view, her inspirational personality, her identity, but what I truly appreciate is that I learned of her wisdom and that I learned of her knowledge, for Lisa Nichols as imperfect as she is, she's very knowledgeable and wise, and if it's anything that truly inspires me, is truly inspirational people who want for other people to search for, discover, and uncover their endless and limitless potential, so they can make a truly special unforgettable journey out of their lives.… (mehr)
