A little girl finds comfort in the memories of her late grandmother. She's able to recall her grandmother's life in Puerto Rico and the sugarcane that she dearly loved. I would categorize this book under realistic fiction because individuals can relate to the loss of someone, especially it's a grandparent or to learn different Spanish words found within the story. I also would recommend this book for children who are dealing with the loss of a grandparent and need help sharing past memories.
