From the opening scene, "Ben was astounded but not surprised by the blind faith placed in the security measures."

How can you be astounded and not be surprised?

"Ben berated himself for assuming the security here would be different from any other country he had worked in; underpaid , overworked, and possessed with little enthusiasm for their jobs. The men were not Japanese, but the country’s reputation for demanding the best from its employees, whatever their nationality, was second to none."

No... Ben assumed security would be the same as in other countries.

There were plenty of other other awkward constructions,I am not waiting to see what this tale is about I am bailing now and getting a refund.

It’s difficult to comment about On the Loose without referring back to the rest of the series as they all compliment each other. Although they dont have to be read in order, they are more enjoyable read sequentially. Essentially this series is the quintessential ‘whodunit’ but there’s a lot more going on beneath each plot. The plotting also is finely tuned with myriad strands fraying off in all directions before the author pulls them all back together with a skill that never feels forced. Up until now this series of books have been a familiar comfortable read. That all changes towards the end of On the Loose, and sets the next instalment on an interesting and perhaps darker path. I can’t praise this series enough.… (mehr)
