P. S. O'Hegarty

P. S. O'Hegarty (1879-1955), born and educated in Cork, was an active member of the Gaelic League and other Irish nationalist organisations as a young man. He worked as a civil servant in London between 1902 and 1913, and was Secretary of the Department of Posts and Telegraphs of the new Irish Free mehr anzeigen State from 1922 until his retirement in 1944. A Prolific writer, he founded the Irish Bookshop in Dawson Street, Dublin. Tom Garvin is Professor Emeritus of Politics at University College Dublin.
