I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I read Brave New World in the 1970s, and again a few years ago. It’s still a sad and depressing book, but this summary is excellent. The summary begins with an explanation of the book’s title, the setting, and the overall plot, followed by a list of the characters. After that, each of Huxley’s original 18 chapters is dealt with briefly. The outline is correct, sufficient, and easy to read and understand. Following this is an analysis of the major characters, the symbols used in the book, discussion questions, and a brief biography of Aldous Huxley. A lot of thought went into this summary and it is well done.

I used a Paperwhite to read the Kindle edition of this book. The formatting and paging were perfect. I found a few errors in the wording. At the beginning of Chapter 1, “urged to multiple” should be “urged to multiply”. At the beginning of Chapter 5, “talk their soma” should be “take their soma”. At the end of Chapter 7, “turning instead of brewed mescal” should be “turning instead to brewed mescal”. Near the end of Chapter 8, “Like other boys” should be “As other boys”. At the beginning of Chapter 11, “afterword spread” should be “after word spread”. Near the end of Chapter 14, “offers the students’ eclairs” should be “offers the students eclairs”, “asks twice is Linda is dead” should be “asks twice if Linda is dead”, and “Pointing at her with him a pastry” should be “Pointing at her with a pastry”. With those exceptions, the spelling, grammar, and punctuation are faultless.… (mehr)
